Accessing ANU Online Resources from Off Campus

Information Commons is the name of the shared ANU computing environment. The Information Commons is both a physical and virtual environment. Physically it includes computer labs and computer workstations in lecture theatres, Library buildings and residence halls, as well as the ANU network. It is also a virtual environment in that it includes ANU wireless, accessible from many locations on campus, and any member of the ANU community can login to the Information Commons from anywhere in the world. On campus, the Information Commons includes an integrated printing system and a digital media suite.

All Information Commons computers and computing locations are identified by the Information Commons sign

All Information Commons computers provide:

  • Internet access to all ANU online resources, world-wide web resources, and to networked services such as email.

  • Access to a large number of computer applications, including word processing tools and a range of course-specific software.

  • Access to 250 Mbytes personal file space.

To login to an Information Commons computer you will need your UniID and password. Enter your UniID (in the form of u1234567) where you are asked for your user name, and enter the same password you use for access to ISIS or HORUS.

A list of the locations of Information Commons computers can be found online.
